Sunday 14 July saw teams from across the Midlands (and a few from further afield) come together in Wolston for the annual Riga tournament.  Chris Nason (tournament director) opened the tournament by welcoming teams and confirmed the sad news that this will be the last time the tournament will be held at Wolston as the home is changing ownership shortly.  The Club is looking at alternative options for 2015 though so watch this space!

There were 14 teams entered this tournament - a record number - so the formalities over the play got underway on three courts.  In the morning each pool played a round robin in order to determine which division teams went into for the afternoon section of the competition.  The morning rounds saw some close matches with all teams playing in both rain and shine (making it a truly British tournament!).

After a short lunchbreak the teams were divided into three divisions to play for places and standings within the tournament.  Riga had three teams entered.  Riga A made it into Division 2 where they ultimately finished second.  Riga B and Riga Old Boys were in Division 3 where they finished 1st and 2nd respectively after a close fought/friendly contest between the two teams.  The overall tournament winners were Hot Lava.

A great day was had by all.  Thanks to Chris, John and the team for all their organising and thanks to all teams for coming along and taking part in such good spirit.  See you all soon on the summer tournament tour!
