North Riding Eagles come out on top

Ladies played North Riding Eagles this weekend. The two sides have not met since the start of the season. Riga started strongly with a side out and a run of serves from Clare that put Riga 4-0 ahead and forced NRE into a time out

NRE fought back though levelling the score at 7-7. Sylwia then stepped up to the service line and a run of strong serves coupled with good covering from Jules and Netti together with strong attacking from Soph and Mim saw Riga win 8 points in a row and take a commanding lead. Riga closed out the set 25-21.

into the second and NRE showed why they are near the top of the league. Every player served strongly and put the Riga passing unit under pressure. A string of service errors from Riga saw NRE take a comfortable lead. Riga fought back with good attacking f I'm Sylwia and Hannah but N pRE closed out the set 25-18.

a determined Riga started set 3 strongly. Another run of serves from Sylwia and the teams were neck and neck! Riga played well as a team chasing down the ball. Jules attacked well at 4 but NRE just kept returning the ball. Riga brought the score to 18-19 and despite a time out for Riga at 21-23, NRE closed out the set 25-22.

riga were determined to turn it round in the fourth but a nervous start from the team gave NRE the upper hand. Whereas Riga got a point on each side out NRE picked up 3 or 4. Riga's attack lacked aggression and NRE capitalised on this taking the set 25-14.
