This year's AGM was held at the Varsity, University of Warwick on Thursday 12 July.  A round up of all the action is set out below!  As we go into the 2018/9 season the committee is, as always, happy to hear any feedback you may have so that we can continue to help all members achieve their volleyball potential!  You can contact the committee via the Contact Us form on this website.

The AGM started with recreational volleyball.  Given the massively hot summer we've been having it looked more like beach volleyball with the yellow grass!  But it was a beautiful evening to play volleyball on the Uni campus.  There was plenty of banter and lots of excellent play for everyone attending!  Great fun to play volleyball as the sun faded and a perfect and fitting end to the 2017/8 season.

But as we head into the 2018/9 season then we moved to the AGM at the Varsity to get down to business!  This year's AGM was all about CELEBRATION!  The Club has had a massive string of successes during the year including:-

  • West Midlands ladies winners of the West Midlands Division 1 league - trophies presented all round
  • Club was awarded its Club Mark accreditation
  • Tom Young won Volleyball England MVP for NVL Division 2
  • Hannah Anderson was awarded the Presidents award for her volunteering for the Club and all the amazing things she's done for us this year.  Highly commended also were John Boughton, Chris Jones and Clare Francis.  Well done all!
  • The NVL Division 2 ladies narrowly missed out on promotion to Division 1 at the end of an excellent season.

Following reports from each of the existing officers setting out the successes of the Club and each of its members then the main decision points were reached.  It was decided that:-

- West Midlands ladies would enter National League Division 2 for the next season.  Exciting times!

- Training nights would be reviewed potentially moving the two ladies teams both to a Tuesday evening and the men to a Thursday.  Decision pending on mens coach position.

- Subs would be the same for all NVL teams.  These would be no increase on last year's subs.  It is noted that subs have not increased for many years now as the committee continue to try and manage costs.  However, a change at policy at the Uni of Warwick means we will no longer be able to use their facilities outside of term time which will have a significant impact on finances.  This will be kept under review during the season by the Treasurer.

The following committee members were elected:-

- Chairperson - Ginny Rennie

- General Secretary - Hannah Anderson

- Treasurer - Clare Francis

- NVL Mens team manager - Chris Jones

- NVL Div 2 Ladies team manager - Miriam Anderson

- NVL Div 3 Ladies team manager - Hannah Anderson

- Club Welfare Officer - Julie Bromell

- Club Development Officer - Alex Smith

A massive thank you to all the outgoing officers and welcome on board to the new officers!
